Deductible, refunds and certificate delivery

Excess / deductible

No excess: the Benefit Table lists 'No' in the excess column for every Basic cover (GTC p. 13, read 2026-08-31). The only stated reduction at payout: 'any bank transfer made outside the European Union will incur a charge of €20' per transfer (GTC p. 13 footnote and p. 27, §8.8) — a payment charge, not a claims deductible.

Refund if the visa is refused

Full premium refund on visa refusal — request before cover starts, no prior claims, refusal letter with name, refusal date and consulate stamp; transaction and currency-exchange fees excluded; typically 5–10 business days after document approval.

Certificate delivery

Certificate 'generated immediately after purchase, sent by email', personalized with 'a unique number' that embassies can verify online (product page, checked 2026-08-31); the GTC define it as the document that proves 'your medical cost insurance when applying for a SCHENGEN VISA' (p. 6, 'Certificate').

Sold as 'Low Cost' on axa-schengen.com; the policy documents carry the name 'Basic': the product page heading reads 'BASIC- Low-Cost Schengen Visa Insurance' and links the IPID and General Terms & Conditions both titled SCHENGEN BASIC 2026 (checked 2026-08-31). Territory also includes San Marino, Andorra, Monaco and Vatican City, and never covers the country of residence or sanctioned countries (GTC p. 25, §8.1). Single-trip contract, maximum 180 consecutive days, restricted to the cover period chosen at purchase (GTC p. 25, §8.3); the definitions add 'This does not imply that your visa automatically will be granted for the same duration' (p. 8). Questions about AXA Schengen Low Cost

Is AXA Schengen Low Cost the same product as AXA Schengen Basic?

Yes. The product sold as Low Cost is documented as Basic: the product page heading reads 'BASIC- Low-Cost Schengen Visa Insurance' and links an IPID and General Terms & Conditions both titled SCHENGEN BASIC 2026 (axa-schengen.com, checked August 31, 2026).

Does AXA Schengen Low Cost meet the EUR 30,000 minimum of Article 15?

It states exactly EUR 30,000: the Benefit Table lists 'Up to €30,000' for emergency medical expenses (General Terms & Conditions July 2026, p. 13, read August 31, 2026). The IPID adds that expenses over €30,000 are not insured without a top-up — the cover equals the legal floor with no margin.

Can you buy AXA Schengen Low Cost if you live in the United States or the United Kingdom?

No. The conditions state the country of residence 'cannot be the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA)' (General Terms & Conditions July 2026, p. 10, read August 31, 2026); UK or US citizens who reside elsewhere are directed to the AXA website for their country of residence (p. 11).

Does AXA Schengen Low Cost have a deductible?

The Benefit Table lists 'No' in the excess column for every Basic cover (General Terms & Conditions July 2026, p. 13, read August 31, 2026). The one stated reduction is a EUR 20 charge per bank transfer outside the European Union when a reimbursement is paid out (p. 27, §8.8).
