Deductible, refunds and certificate delivery

Excess / deductible

The benefit table lists no excess on medical, repatriation or death benefits; the only excess shown is EUR 30 on communication costs (GTC p. 13). Any reimbursement by bank transfer outside the EU incurs a EUR 20 charge per transfer (GTC §8.9, p. 31). Read August 31, 2026.

Refund if the visa is refused

The contract names visa refusal as a refund ground: if 'you are unable to obtain a visa approval', AXA 'will fully refund your premium', excluding transaction and currency-exchange costs, against 'an official document from the rightful authority confirming the refusal of your visa' (GTC §8.7, p. 30). §8.7 itself states no deadline; AXA's refund page adds that the request 'must always be submitted before your coverage starts', with no prior claims, and cites 5-10 business days after document approval. Both read August 31, 2026.

Certificate delivery

The GTC defines the certificate as the document presented 'to prove your medical cost insurance when applying for a SCHENGEN VISA' (§2 'Certificate', p. 6); the product page states it is emailed immediately after purchase, for download and print (read August 31, 2026).

Notes

Naming: on August 31, 2026 AXA's page at the axa-schengen-europe-travel URL sold this cover as 'Schengen Essential', and the 2026 IPID and GTC are titled 'SCHENGEN ESSENTIAL' — the register name 'Europe Travel' no longer appears on the product page. Underwriter per GTC §3.4 (p. 11): Inter Partner Assistance SA, Brussels, NBB no. 0487, part of the AXA Group. Eligibility (GTC §3.3, p. 10): the country of residence 'must lie outside the Schengen zone' and cannot be the UK or the USA; UK and US residents are directed to separate AXA sites. Territory extends beyond Schengen to non-Schengen EU countries, San Marino, Andorra, Monaco, Vatican City, Cyprus, Ireland and the UK, but never the country of residence (GTC §8.1, p. 29). Duration works through the purchase dates: the cover period is the start and end date set in the Special Conditions, the trip may not exceed it, and trip duration is capped at 180 consecutive days (GTC §8.2-8.3, p. 29) — the document does not use Article 15(3)'s phrase 'entire duration of the intended stay', so the certificate spans the whole stay only if the buyer sets the dates that way. 'Medical emergency' is defined as needing 'immediate medical treatment or medical attention' (GTC §2, p. 7). Coffin and funeral costs on death are capped at EUR 750 (benefit table, p. 13). The 2-page IPID confirms the same benefits and lists visa refusal among the cancellation refund grounds. All documents read August 31, 2026.
